Jassman, a snowboard instructor, majored in aviation at Medicine Hat College and successfully earned his commercial pilot license, but after he broke his back in a car accident in 2004. Jassman has competed at two Paralympic Games and three Parapan American Games since 2012 and won a gold medal at the 2012 London Paralympics.
